Fenner | Flavell Wedding
This August, Et Cetera celebrated the marriage of Heather Flavell and Ren Fenner in a beautiful private barn in White River Junction. The barn was located on a stunning property with mountain views, home to an apple orchard and a gorgeous white farmhouse. The reception space inside the barn was eclectically furnished with various styles of chairs which complemented the assorted vintage plates that the bride sourced from her mother’s, sister’s, and her own china collections. Continuing with the vintage china theme, the centerpieces consisted of teapots that held flowers for the centerpieces and various teacups with candles illuminating the tables. Around the barn, Heather had handmade many decorations depicting “H & R” to personalize the space for her and Ren. Additionally, she created a flower backdrop for photos on the side of the farmhouse as well as a box lined with photos of the couple for the cards on the gift table. With the string lights strung from post to post and over the dance floor, all of the china sparkled, enchanting the barn space.
Located a half hour from the barn, the couple was married at Saint Gaudens National Historic Site in Cornish, VT, a beautiful park venue. Though it was raining on and off during the ceremony, the wedding party looked breathtaking centered around the birch arbor. The bridesmaids were dressed in long light pink flowy dresses and the groomsmen were in grey suits, all holding umbrellas to keep dry from the rain. Though the rain became more constant as the night progressed, it could not dampen anyone’s spirits.
Guests arrived back at the barn for the cocktail hour and reception, excited by the transformation of the barn space. The barn doors were swung wide open, allowing in the cool breeze from the rainy mist outside. Guests ventured out to explore the grounds, particularly loving the barn’s upstairs loft area, home to the farmhouse kitchen, lounge space, and bridal party dressing rooms. Finally Heather and Ren arrived in a glamorous white antique Jaguar with “Just Married – Next Stop: Happily Ever After” in the back window.
Heather's and Ren’s first dance was our favorite part of the entire evening. Heather looked truly captivating as her vintage lace dress flowed behind her – radiating beauty and grace. Though guests gathered around to see the couple share in their first dance, to the two of them, it was as if they were the only two in the room. The way that they looked longingly into each other’s eyes and beamed as they whispered secrets in each other’s ears was true testament to how deeply these two are in love.
The evening was filled with smiles, laughter, and lots of fun using the polaroid camera that the couple supplied for their photo guestbook. The camera made it out onto the dance floor, capturing the energy of the night. We loved watching the guests celebrate Heather and Ren’s special day – despite the rainy weather!
What a wonderful first trip of the season to Southern Vermont - we wish Heather and Ren a long, happy, and fun-filled marriage!
